What is ileus / intestinal obstruction?
Ileus is a condition in which the intestines stop moving food and waste forward. Intestinal obstruction is a complete or near-complete blockage. Both cause severe abdominal pain, vomiting, distention, and the inability to pass gas or stool, and usually require hospitalization and sometimes surgery.
Ozempic label change
In September 2023, the FDA required Novo Nordisk to add ileus to the Ozempic label after a post-marketing safety review. Plaintiffs allege the warning should have been added years earlier based on internal data.
When you may have a claim
You may qualify if you were hospitalized for ileus or intestinal obstruction during or shortly after GLP-1 use, with no prior history of the condition. Surgical intervention strengthens the claim.
