1. Did you take a GLP-1 drug for at least a few months?
Most law firms require documented use of Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Zepbound, Rybelsus, Saxenda, or Trulicity for several months — typically three or more — before considering a case. Pharmacy records are the gold standard.
2. Were you diagnosed with a qualifying injury?
Qualifying injuries currently include gastroparesis, severe pancreatitis, intestinal obstruction, ileus, gallbladder disease requiring surgery, aspiration pneumonia, NAION (sudden vision loss), and medullary thyroid cancer. The diagnosis must be in your medical records — not just self-reported.
3. Did the injury start during or shortly after GLP-1 use?
Timing matters. Cases are strongest when the injury starts during therapy or in the weeks-to-months after stopping. The further out, the harder causation gets.
4. Did you have the same problem before starting the drug?
A pre-existing diagnosis of the same condition will usually disqualify a claim. The MDL exists for new injuries that emerged on therapy.
5. Are you within the statute of limitations?
Most states give two or three years from the date of injury or its discovery. If you are unsure, request a review now — once the deadline passes, the case is permanently lost.
